We teach our teenagers about all kinds of danger. We educate them about drugs, about drinking, about strangers and predatory behavior. We teach them how to defend themselves in situations that may threaten their safety. We teach them to avoid dangerous environments. We teach them to evaluate and recognize threatening and predatory behavior. We teach them about all of the dangers we can think of, until it comes to driving. 

 

We are not very good about teaching them the about the real dangers of driving. We may try to scare them a little, we may try to make them aware, but we don’t really teach them how to recognize, avoid and respond to danger. We need to. For their sake and for the sake of everyone who may ride with them in the future.
