Driver Training Programs :: Corporate Fleet Training

The basic problem for Risk Managers of Corporate Fleets is, sometimes they don't know there is a problem...until there is a problem!
Does anyone really believe that a person is a competent and skillful driver just because they have a driver’s license?

If a company has fleet vehicles … someone had better have the responsibility to manage the risks of the company and do something to reduce the risks! And it makes no difference whether that is a small, medium, or large company.

For the small company, a driving incident at the wrong time can often impact the ability of a company to even survive (at the worst), or manage accelerating costs of insurance (at the least). For a medium or large size company with deep pockets, a driving incident can impact what is left in the pockets — as well as the company's profitability.

The solution for Risk Managers is to:

1. Define and Evaluate areas of liability exposure.
2. Develop strategies to limit the exposure and reduce risks.
3. Establish policies and procedures to manage potential losses.

The risk manager who is just looking to “check the box” in regard to driving safety is placing the company at substantial risk. Because it is not a matter of “IF” … it is a matter of “WHEN”.

The strategies for protecting a company from vehicular liability exposure are built upon three areas:

1. Evaluation
2. Training
3. Policies & Procedures

Each is equally important and supports the others. If one is missing, the others will collapse.

The role of risk management for the corporation or municipality has taken on a totally new level of importance during the past few years. The direction of the court system seems to be a “one way street leading toward the deepest pockets”  …  rather than one of determining causation and responsibility.

This is especially true as it relates to risk management of corporate vehicles, and the total liability exposure from the vehicles and drivers of their fleet. This also includes the potential losses due to worker’s comp claims.

Most companies have not developed an effective risk management program to limit their exposure from fleet liability. Why? It certainly is not because they don’t want it. It may be because they don’t understand the potential strategies that can be used. In many small businesses, the owner’s very survival is in the hands of their drivers. For big businesses, many of whom are self-insured to some degree, these losses come straight off the bottom line! And the impact is huge!

The important thing that every company must remember is …

If your employee is driving a vehicle (company or personal) on company business, YOU are probably responsible for what THEY do!

As experts, our objective is to share with you our knowledge and perspectives so that you can easily and efficiently take the necessary steps to accomplish your objectives … to decrease the risk of vehicular liability for your company or agency.
