The ability to drive is also an important life skill for young people who have special needs in learning to drive.
For many years, MasterDrive has stood alone in providing an absolutely unique service for anyone who has special needs in learning to drive. Driving safety is the ultimate objective of the MasterDrive program, and the safety of a new driver is totally dependent upon the quality of the essential execute functions related to driving. These functions include: balance … multi-tasking … focus and concentration … the ability to understand and follow instructions … visual processing and visual spatial awareness … reaction time, etc.
The primary objective of the MasterDrive Rehabilitation and Special Needs program is to define effective strategies which will help to develop the executive functions and skills to become a competent, safe, and comfortable driver for years to come.
The MasterDrive program is a totally new “hands on” approach in the evaluation and definition of developmental strategies for the person who, as a driver, has special requirements. It is not just for the purpose of evaluating whether a person can or cannot drive, but to attempt to define a training strategy for an implementable therapeutic solution.
For many years the MasterDrive program has worked with many clients who have various types of challenges in regard to both general function and driving: victims of a stroke, brain injury, people with a serious phobic driving condition, MS, Cerebral Palsy, spinal injuries, and other specific requirements such as ADD, ADHD, learning difficulties, and more.
If you know of someone who requires special needs for the purpose of driving, you are invited to seek a strategy session with our company. Our objectives are inclusive; however, when it comes to driving safety has to be our first consideration.
