Driver Training Programs :: Traffic Court

What is the real intent of most traffic court programs?
Traffic Court programs in most states have attempted to impact the behavior of drivers by establishing an "alternative sentencing" through their participation in a Traffic School session. Some are conducted by the courts and/or law enforcement departments, and some are conducted by driving schools specializing in Traffic Court classes.

The intent is to change the behavior of drivers, with something other than a punitive strategy. The intent is to "motivate" a traffic violator to become a better, safer, more competent driver. The intent is to keep the traffic violator's insurance costs from escalating out of sight!
The question is ... is the intent - the objective - achieved???

Most of these programs place the violation on probation for a period of time, — IF — the violator does not repeat a traffic offense within that period of time. If successful, the violation does not appear on the driving record.

The perception of most people toward court traffic school programs is a big joke! The perception is valid because research has shown that they are not effective in achieving the objective. In fact, during the past several years “comedy” type traffic schools have become a favorite of violators. Why? Because at least they are not as boring. (A recent California study has concluded that the traffic school programs have no impact upon changing driver behavior.)

MasterDrive has designed a totally new concept for Traffic Court/Corrective Driver training. We believe that the driver training should be more than just punitive. Research shows that it should be more than lectured. And participants feel that it should have meaning, and be something more than boring.

The MasterDrive program is a "hands on, in-car" training which is actually fun and effective.

The time and intensity is based upon the degree of the violation.  The results are positive and create a skill set and behavioral change that is beneficial to the participant and our driving environment.  It is an opportunity to practice advanced driving skills in a controlled and safe driving range.  It achieves the intent of an alternative sentencing objective.

The MasterDrive program costs a little more, but is actually appreciated and recommended by more than 95% of the participants.  District Attorneys and Judges who have used the MasterDrive program actually give testament as to the efficacy of the training.  Participants have actually come back to judges to thank them for requiring them to complete the program.  (That is truly remarkable!)
