Lesson 4

parking lot practice

Lesson 4

It is very important for a teen to practice and learn specific skills in how to control a car in motion.  How to execute an avoidance maneuver while factoring in the dynamics of weight in motion, the ability to ‘squeeze’ the brakes for maximum braking, the correct use of an ABS braking system, the ‘feeling’ of the change in weight of the car from front to rear and rear to front.

These skills are learned by doing repetitions, not by lecture.  Simply telling a teen to ‘be careful’ does not do anything.  They need to learn about car control and the best place to do this is in a vacant parking lot.
