Lesson 6
state of mind
Lesson 6
We all know that we have a tendency to perform at a higher level if we are more confident in what we are doing. If we believe that we are good at what we are doing, and have a belief system that has developed as a result of experiencing success. This is the foundation of sports psychology.
While driving, the state of mind of a driver is critically important because of the level of danger. Think about it: Do you enjoy riding with someone who is a very nervous driver? Probably not, because in a crisis you know that they will probably not handle the situation or condition very well.
Some parents want their teen to have a lot of fear in regard to driving. Perhaps you want them to have respect for the situation or condition, but ideally, the teen would have the ability and confidence to handle the situation.
It’s important for you to keep in mind how important your child’s state of mind is. And what you would prefer their state of mind to be while they are becoming a driver. This awareness, which is your ability to notice and help them, will greatly help you in the process of working with your teen.
